This position is designated Mandatory and Must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
The Health Care Technician II will provide supervision and direction to assigned direct care staff during the absence of the Health Care Supervisor. Job responsibilities include the following:

Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals
Implementation of clients' habilitation and training plans
Assist with personal care, home living, socialization, leisure and safety of individuals.
Assist in teaching daily living and other skills
Assist in classroom, and other training areas
Transportation of individuals to activities, classes, and appointments.
Shopping with and for individuals
Assist in providing emergency treatment for seizures accidents, etc.
Housekeeping chores as specified.
Record keeping and documentation.
Work Location: 104 Parrott/ Harmony Court
Work Hours: 2:30p.m. - 11:00p.m./ Every Other Weekend

Knowledge of approved behavioral intervention programs.
Working knowledge of the needs of the population served.
Knowledge of appropriate protocols for medication administration when required.

Ability to relate positively to individuals, families, and professional staff.
Ability to follow-up on services being provided to the individuals to assure needs are

Ability to maintain professional and even-tempered demeanor in work relationship
Valid Driver License.

Physical Requirements:
Employee must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-9 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature.Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Condition for Continued Employment : As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
