Summary:
Manage all registration processes for the hospital including the following area:
Admissions, Emergency, Outpatient Service on hospital committees to represent the department and its interest.

Manage personnel aspects as required by a management level position as well as maintain a departmental budget, and plan, with goals and objectives.
Serves as liaison between Registration areas, Health Information Services, Patient Accounting, Management Information Systems, Resource Management and other registration areas (Day Surgery, Rehab Services and Cancer Center) to assure accurate and complete demographic and payer information for the clinical and financial systems of the hospital.
Responsibilities:
Employees of the Patient Registration Department by keeping them informed of hospital and departmental issues.
Assures hospital each employee upholds policies.
Patients and their families are served compassionately when employees are trained to gathering necessary demographic information in completion of the registration process.
Also assists patients/families by directing or escorting them to other areas of the hospital as necessary and responding to customer issues.
Physicians depend upon the manager as a laison between themselves and staff when issues need to be addressed or training is required for their staff.
Clinical and Diagnostic Services depend upon a speedy and proficient registration to expedite patient care and maintain schedules to assure customer satisfaction.
Assists security with visitor control in each registration area.
The Patient Accounting Department depends upon accurate registration information to expedite the billing process.
Health Information Services relies on registration for accurate and complete medical record number assignment and completion of Patient Index information.
Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS BA or BS Degree in Business or Health Information Management or associate degree with 2 or more years' experience in patient registration areas or comparable management positions.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Previous experience of 2 years in patient registration areas or comparable management positions preferred, that have stressed customer service.
Medical office experience preferred.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENT Must possess excellent customer relation skills and is team work oriented Basic computer skills.
Typing speed of 45 wpm Ability to prioritize work during peak volumes Ability to use calculator and perform simple math.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Limited exposure to blood borne and air borne pathogens requiring minimal use of protective equipment.
Limited radiation exposure due to use of VDT when registering patients.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Basically sedentary with some walking to other areas of the hospital.
Ability to lift 30 pounds and reach heights of at least 5 feet.
