Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Survey Party Crew Chief.
Essential Functions Performs topographic, preliminary, construction and boundary surveys independently.
Pulls and makes copies of maps, blueprints and deeds.
Sets up equipment at job site.
Research of property to be surveyed, obtaining plats, deeds, ordinances and other information.
Cuts and removes brush from line of site; removes manhole covers.
Positions elevation and prism rod where information can be recorded and/or transmitted to recording device.
Installs iron stakes and flags to mark property corners; locates property corners for customers and businesses.
Maintains time sheets; prepares and maintains vehicle maintenance records.
Records and maintains equipment for land surveying.
Performs related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1 to 2 years' experience preferred.
Physical Demands This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently speaking or hearing and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and exposure to extreme heat (non-weather); work is generally in a loud noise location (e.
g.
heavy traffic, large earth-moving equipment).
